Figure 17. Close up view of quarry marks. Below the 10-cm scale stick the groove in which wood wedges soaked with water were jammed is clearly visible. Because of the fine-grained igneous texture, the basalt blocks split of smoothly, similar to a flint sliver knapped from a core. 1 November, 2016.
